CMC (carpometacarpal) Arthroplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat CMC joint arthritis, which can cause pain when moving your thumb. The CMC joint is located at the base of the thumb, where the bones in your thumb connect to the trapezium bone in your wrist.
During this procedure, a surgeon will remove your trapezium bone and replace it with an implant. Thumb CMC Arthroplasty is usually done as an alternative to trapeziectomy, in which the trapezium bone is removed and not replaced with an implant.
Physician order required.
Please do not order until Doctor Office Visit with chosen doctor has been completed.
